The sky is blue, the clouds are white, and the autumn breeze is refreshing. In this beautiful golden autumn of October, a stream of cold current of COVID-19 has come, making the former bustling Lanzhou city cool down suddenly, and even the waves of the Yellow River are no longer cheerful. The virus is terrible but love among people is powerful. A group of brave warriors-in-white have no hesitation rushing to the battlefield which has no gunfire, walking towards the opposite of the light. Hospital of Stomatological of Lanzhou University quickly organized and transferred medical staff to the front line to participate in the nucleic acid collection. In the face of urgent tasks, we actively signed up to become front-line anti-pandemic personnel, and to be the safety goalkeeper of Lanzhou.

As a Chinese saying goes, "Life is more important than Mountain Tai.” “Epidemic prevention and control is the order and duty" is the true feeling of medical workers who are taking on responsibility. At 7:00 a.m. on October 25^th, we went to the community of Caochang Street, Chengguan District to participate in nucleic acid collection. Under the unified deployment of the hospital, we quickly carried out work in groups, checking health codes, inputting information, collecting nucleic acid, all following a standard procedure.

Don't Be Afraid, It Will Be All Right.

In the cold wind, Yang Fanni and Wang Chenggang were enthusiastic about serving the masses. While strictly abiding by the collection process, they gave full play to their professional expertise and adopted a scientific and gentle approach. "Don't be afraid, it will be all right" has won the care and love of the people. A lot of people had asked us if we needed any help. There were warm words such as "Thank you!" and "Appreciate!" all the time, and the sweet voices from the children with calling us uncles and aunts had melted our hearts.  As my phone ran out of battery due to constant scanning of the health QR code, a man bought me a new charging cable straightway. Someone also brought fruits and snacks over for us.

Although being prepared, with warmer pads on the body and knee pads on the legs, we still felt the chill getting into our body bit by bit in the depth of night, but our hearts were staying warm. After been standing for hours, everyone's legs were sore, but no one was complaining or crying out. The long queue is moving, meanwhile all the medical staff were working along at a brisk but orderly pace without any confusion. There was only one idea in everyone’s mind, that is to let the residents, especially the elderly and children, finish the test and go home as soon as possible. By the time of the last person was tested, it was nearly 1:00 a.m., but we were still in high spirits and looking forward to going into work the next day. We are so proud we are white warriors and guarding our beautiful city.
